Welcome to Roger Casements!

Roger Casements has been running for over 30 years, we are open to all skill levels, age and fitness. We specialize in fun. If you are interested in playing Gaelic Football in Toronto we would like to hear from you. We are always on the lookout for new players, coaches, sponsors and volunteers.

The GAA in Canada has always functioned as more than just a sports body. It is a social club, a labour clearinghouse and a point of contact for the Irish community. If any Irish person needed work, a place to live, friends to go for a drink with in a strange town, or anything else, the GAA was the network that people got into, and it remains so to this day ‘Jim Kelly’.

Roger Casements Club was formed in 1990 as an under 18 boys team. “Casements” as was it familiar known had a lot of success through 1993 winning several league and championship titles. 9 members from the Casements team were selected to represent Toronto in Kilkenny, Ireland and the team won 3 out of 4 matches, losing to the New York team in the final game. Before leaving Ireland they played a challenge match against Dublin’s St. Vincent’s team and were beaten by a mere 2 points. In 1994 the men’s team was formed with a lot of the existing minor’s squad and some new recruits. The Casement’s men’s team faced a few lean years through to 1997. Then they won the Montreal tournament. They moved up and down the league until 2011 when they won the junior championships against Toronto’s St. Mike’s. The Casement’s men’s team folded at the end of 2012.

Roger Casements senior ladies team was formed in 1997. They played their first games at the Montreal Tournament in May of that year. This team had some great skilled players and won the Powerscreen gold watch tournament in 2007. In 2017, they won the Toronto Junior Shield in what would have been their first piece of silverware and a massive achievement for the club. Every year, they continue to have great team building success and fundraising events which include an annual curling event and many other social activities.
